What is a contributor?

Contributors are invited to specific projects or folders and can only access the creative assets within those areas. They’re typically external collaborators, such as vendors or contractors, who need limited access to support a project.

There are five user roles in StreamWork: Admin, Workspace Manager, Member, Contributor, and Reviewer.

Contributors are invited by other users to collaborate on specific projects or folders and have access only to the creative assets within those areas. They are typically external collaborators, such as vendors, freelancers, or agency partners who work closely with internal teams—for example, to project manage a video campaign from start to finish.

Because Contributors are integrated into the core workflow, they are considered a paid seat within an organization’s StreamWork account.

What Contributors Can Do:

Contributors can actively collaborate with members in the projects or folders they’ve been invited to. They have permission to:

  • Work alongside Members, Workspace Mangers and Admins on shared projects

  • Create and delete folders

  • Upload and organize creative assets

  • Create, manage, and edit tasks. They can also delete tasks they've created

  • Convert comments into actionable tasks

  • Comment, reply, and annotate directly on assets

Additional Permissions (If Granted):

With the appropriate permissions, Contributors can also:

  • Download assets from a campaign

  • Invite other Contributors to join a campaign

  • Share assets via external links

This flexible role makes Contributors an ideal fit for external partners who need deeper collaboration without full access to the entire workspace.
